I've not blogged for a while, so I thought I would answer the questions Dad emailed me about places to stay in Adelaide in the blog. And then it looks like I have done a blog as well. Slack or multitasking/time efficient?? :)
So, you mentioned staying in the Adelaide Shores accommodation? It is pretty close to Glenelg. So still quite a distance from me. Do you need to take their recommendations? Or how about these apartments in Semaphore? Would these be any good for you?
www.semaphoreblue.com.au I've never stayed there before, but we were going to for Brad's birthday. They are in the heart of Semaphore and look pretty nice.
Also, if you are going to stay in Glenelg, how about www.seawallapartments.com.au I have stayed here before and they were really nice.
The one in the heart of the city looks good though.
So what have I been up to? I went on the Adelaie Gaol 'spooky tour' the other night with some of the girls www.adelaidegoal.org.au My god, it was the biggest pile of crap I've ever done. The woman running the tour took us down every corridor to say 'I've heard footsteps down this corridor before'... I was willing someone to slam a door behind us or making fake ghostie noises, anything to try and create some excitement! But nothing!
The tour was supposed to finish at 10pm.. but rolled on til 11pm. By which point, I was ready to lynch the guide. I did use my assertiveness skills and suggest to the other girls that we say we want to leave. But one of the girls was (amazingly) having a good time, so we stayed :-/ We went out for cocktails afterwards to try and forget all about it.
On Friday it is my birthday. I have my pole dancing lesson that night (have I mentioned that I have been doing this? I have no sex appeal, but am fairly proficient at spinning round at high speeds like a child :) I was supposed to be practicing my handstands for this week.. but ummm... haven't... so when they ask us to do a handstand against the pole this week.. err.. I think I am going to struggle! :)
But I am going out on Saturday with some of the girls for cocktails and misbehaving. And then on Sunday we are going to the Roller Derby www.adelaiderollerderby.com ... this looks like fun... and I am wondering if I can get myself involved in this??!
Saw Craig's birthday photos on Facebook last week. Did you remember that his was a week before mine? It was his 40th. I saw his girlfriend in the pictures too. She looks nice, blonde, bubbly. So I am pleased for him. He looks happy. He emailed me this week to say that he is going to move back into our house in Mount Hawke (not with the girlfriend.. with a friend from the estate he has been living on) and that our old neighbour, Des, had died this week.
Apart from that, I don't think I have any more news...
Hope you all have a good week.

In no particular order...

Here are some pictures taken recently... the one of me and two girls in the dark was taken at the music festival we travelled to a couple of weeks ago. I was experimenting with a quiff in my hair for the evening. I thought it looked good at the time, but looking at the photo... I think the jury is out on that one :) The picture of the bay with half a building on the left of it (I'm such a fantastic photographer!) was taken in Port Lincoln which is where we stayed when we were at the festival. The other beach photos were taken at Brighton beach (remember that one mum and dad?) which is in Adelaide. I went down on Sunday for a few beers with some friends and took those shots from the jetty.
And lastly the photo of everyone looking away from the camera was taken last Friday night when we went out into the city to celebrate a friend's birthday. We had the most amazing tapas. It was the nicest restaurant I've been to for a long time. I took that picture because I liked the decor of the place. The restaurant had a large tree growing in the dining room and lanterns hanging from it. The photo is taken looking into the restaurant. The front of the restaurant (which was behind me) was glass doors which opened all the way over, so we were effectively kind of sitting in the street. It was really lovely!
So what am I doing for the Easter long weekend? Not an amazing amount to be honest. I have made plans to go out and have dinner and drinks with friends, do some cycling etc, but nothing out of the ordinary. Saving some pennies for Bali... did I mention that I have booked a trip to Bali? In August.. going over with a couple of the guys I used to know from Scotland. One lives in Dubai now and the other in Norway. So I scored in terms of having the least distance to travel!

I'm going to another music festival next weekend. See link above. Triple J is a national radio station here. They are hosting the event.
www.tumbybay.com
The festival is being held in the tiny little village of Tumby Bay about 700km from Adelaide. We are driving up after work on Friday and then home again after the concert on Sunday.
Then a couple of weeks later I'm going to do a 8000feet tandem dive. First time for me. Will I be able to jump, or will I chicken out I wonder?

Fleurieu Wknd & Future Music Festival

Here's a few pics of where me and some of the girls stayed this weekend. We went down south and stayed in a friend's 'beach shack' for a couple of days. We had a surfing lesson (and I surprised myself no end by getting up a couple of times!!) and then went for a horseride along the beach. Lots of fun. There is also a picture that was taken at the Future Music Festival on Monday. The light show was part of the Chemical Bros set, which was very good.
Today is mum's 60th... I've tried to call a few times and not been able to get through. So happy birthday! Hope you have a great day.

Click on link to see interior of the house where I live.. there have been some changes since the photos were taken... eg the kitchen wall is no longer blue but slate grey.. and some new sofas and dining table.. but it gives you the general idea!
We've hit Fringe season here in Adelaide. So it means I'm out loads at shows. Last night I went to see a really funny comedian. Her show was called 'how to get almost anyone to shag you'. Highly recommended! It was a hot night though and we were crammed into a small tent with just a fan to cool us down. So by the time we left, everyone looked post coital and definitely less shaggable! It was a sweaty affair! ;-)
More comedy lined up for this week. And doing another big cycle race this Sunday. Coast to Coast. For mum and dad's benefit (who know a bit about the geography) it's from Glenelg to Vitcor Harbour. 120kms. The last ride I did was in the Adelaide Hills a couple of weeks ago. It was supposed to be 80kms, but got chatting to this boy. We missed a turn off sign and got lost! Found our way back, but it added another 25kms to the ride! Worse still, when he took his helmet and glasses off, he was decidedly less attractive than I had imagined! Darn it! My friend says that this is an inexperienced error. And I should always get cyclists boys to take their helmets and sunnies off immediately. They can hide a multitude of sins! ;-)
I went out in my friend's small aerobatic aircraft yesterday. Pictures to follow.
Hope all is well with you my scattered family.

Has Kelly fallen off the face of the Earth?

Hello from Down Under! How are you all? Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Hope you all had a great time.
So what have I been doing over the holidays? Well, Christmas Day I went to my friend Louisa's house... (she lives 5mins up the road)... and we had a pool party. Was great fun. We spent most of the day in the pool splashing around and drinking... and then half way through the day we had this massive turkey dinner.... well I didn't... me and another veggie had fish... but all the same it was quite a surreal experience to be hot and in a bikini munching on roast potatoes and gravy!
Boxing Day I went down south with a few friends from the gym and we spent a few days on the Fleurieu Peninsula coast. Hired a beach holiday cottage and just spent our time sunbathing and relaxing.
Then went to Perth for a couple of days to visit friends... and got back on new years eve for a weekend of partying in Adelaide. It's now Monday night. I am knackered... and skint... and have to go back to work tomorrow. Yawn! O well. Only a couple of weeks til mum and dad arrive.
I took these pictures on the beach today. I was at Glenelg beach, which is where mum and dad are staying when they are in Adelaide. One of the apartment blocks is the one that they will be staying in. As you can see, absolutely no effort was used taking these photos. I barely lifted myself off the beach towel to take them...:)
Ok, Gary.... now your turn to get Skype installed... remember..??!! :)
xx
